Americans Dominate in the Summer GamesIt was the year of surprises in the 1920 Summer Olympic Games. The Olympic Oath and the Olympic Flag were introduced to the opening ceremony on April 20. Also, the Olympic flame was lit while doves rushed through the air to show piece in the Games. With all of these surprises to the public, another shock was the amount of wins that Americans pulled in from the competitions. Americans won the most gold metals and the most total metals, unlike the previous Olympic Games where Americans only won the most gold metals but fell to Sweden for the most total metals.
